第11回国際レクチャーシリーズ(2021年11月16日、18日、24日)

2018年に発足した新学術領域「量子クラスターで読み解く物質階層構造」(領域代表者:中村隆司)では、総括班、および理論班の活動の一貫として国際レクチャーシリーズを開催し、ハドロン・原子核・原子・分子のそれぞれの分野における精鋭の研究者に3コマ(1コマ:90分)程度の講義をお願いし、その分野の重要な物理を、実験・理論問わず大学院生や異分野の研究者にもわかりやすく紹介していただきます。第11回は以下のとおり、11月16,18,24日にオンラインで開催します。興味のある方は是非、ご参加ください。

<Title> Selected topics in nuclear astrophysics: equation of state and indirect methods
<Abstract>Chemical elements are synthesized in different phases of the cosmic history at various sites, e.g., in stars, supernovae or neutron star mergers. Studying these astrophysical processes in simulations requirescertain inputs from nuclear physics. Two of them will be discussed in this series of lectures: properties of the stellar medium at high densities and thermodynamic reaction rates. The former are encoded in an equation of state that has to be provided by theoretical models of dense matter. An approach based on a relativistic density functional will be discussed with special emphasis on the chemical composition of the matter. The occurrence of clusters as many-body correlations will be studied in detail. Under conditions out of thermodynamic equilibrium, cross sections of nuclear reactions have to be known but they are often hard or impossible to measure directly in the laboratory at low energies. Indirect methods can be a useful tool to obtain information on these reactions nevertheless. The main features of the Coulomb dissociation method and the Trojan-horse method will be presented with some basic considerations of reaction theory.
